news bulletin for grade 5
Shalom Dear Parents,
It has been another exciting week in Kita Heh in our Judaic program. In Chumash we learned about the bravery of Shifra (a.k.a. Yocheved) and Pu'ah (a.k.a. Miriam), the Hebrew midwives who dared to defy the evil Pharaoh's orders. We also learned that this evil Pharaoh was probably Seti I and later his son, Ramses, would get the Aseret Makot, Ten Plagues. We have almost finished our first perek and will now review and internalize the material. We will continue to use drama to allow the children to portray their understanding of the material.
In Ivrit we described the qualities of the "kita hapeila" (active classroom) and the children will have their first vocabulary test on these adjectives.
In Mishna we learned about the different books of the Oral Torah and the Written Torah.
In the spirit of our "Shoftim" Judges, the children held their own "court" this week to solve a dispute among two students.
And finally in Dinim we continue to learn about Rosh Hashana.
Today we will come home again with a riveting Dvar Torah to enhance the Shabbat table, so please be sure to ask your child to share it with you.
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Robin
P.S. Our "reporters" have taken a break. They will be back next week,B"H.

news bulletin grade 3
Shalom Dear Parents,
It has been another exciting week in Kita Gimel in our Judaic program. In Chumash we have completed our first perek, perek 23 , (yeah! ), and are now in the process of review and internalization of the material. We have discussed the important concepts of: Respect for the dead "Kavod LaMet" which is a supreme act of Chesed, and the importance of Eretz Yisrael. We see how Avraham pays such a hefty sum in order to purchase the land and makes sure to have a contract with Bnei Chet. In order to have the children be able to "connect" to the story, they are going to depict their understanding of what we have learned in their own written skits. They have just started working on them. Please have them review the pesukim on a daily basis and encourage them to complete their Kebaba charts.
In Ivrit we 've talked about different "kufsaot" boxes and discovered that our boxes are intended to be a "kufsat zikaron" a memory box. We have also worked in our Ivrit /Chagim workbook and have reviewed the months of the Jewish year. Our first spelling/vocabulary quiz is Friday on these months.
In Dinim/Chagim we reviewed the different names for Rosh Hashana and the importance of the Shofar and what it symbolizes.
Today your children will come home with another riveting Dvar Torah to share at the Shabbat table, so please be sure to ask your child to share it with you. They should also decorate their parashat hashavua page for our "yofi shel parasha" corner.
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Robin
PLEASE NOTE: All the children should have 3 notebooks: one for Chumash, one for Ivrit, and one for Dinim. They also need an assignment book in which to write their homework .
ALSO; Please ask your child for all quizzes/tests. These need to be corrected , if possible, and signed and returned the next day.
Thank you!!

Morah Robin news bulletin grade 3
Shalom Dear Parents,
It has been another exciting week in Kita Gimel in our Judaic program. In Chumash we are learning bout Avraham's purchase of a burial plot for his beloved wife, Sarah. We are presently working on reading and comprehension of the special Torah language while rephrasing in modern Hebrew and English translation when needed. Through different activities like our human matching game, the children practice and review the words and their meanings. Please have them review the pesukim on a daily basis and encourage them to complete their Kebaba charts.
In Ivrit we have learned the new words "hatchalah" (beginning) and "sof" (end), especially in reference to the new year approaching and have sung a new song about different hatchalot and sof. We have also learned that we are learning "b'hatslacha" this year and have wished each other through song and motion "b'hatslacha" in different subjects, all in Ivrit. We have discovered that our decorative boxes are our own personal "kufsaot zikaron" (memory boxes) and we will store special works and projects in them throughout the year.
We have started our individual reading program of a new "sefer sifriya" from our Tal Am library. Each student has a library book where he/she will read independently and keep a personal dictionary of new words. At this time, I will go around and help students understand the new story. An interesting project will sum up each book.
Starting next week we will have a weekly "hachtava" spelling test which will check for meaning and correct use of the words in sentences. The words will be from their Tal Am workbooks.
Today your children will come home with a riveting Dvar Torah to share at the Shabbat table, so please be sure to ask your child to share it with you. They should also decorate their parashat hashavua page for our "yofi shel parasha" corner.
My blog is now up. I apologize for the delay. Please check it daily.
Thank you !

Shalom Dear Parents,
It has been another exciting week in Kita Heh in our Judaic program. In Chumash we learned about Pharaoh's evil plan against the Jewish people and have clarified different points through Rashi. We are improving our vocabulary of the special Torah language as we learn to explain the words the Torah uses with modern Hebrew and English translation. We even used drama this week to show our understanding of different pesukim and had a visit from Pharaoh, his guards and Bnei Yisrael themselves. What talented actors and actresses we have!
In Mishna we discovered through our own "experiment" the vital need for the Torah She Be'al Peh (Oral Torah) . Without it we could never know or understand so many different mitzvoth.
In Ivrit we began the new Tal Am curriculum for 5th grade and discovered that this year we are going to be the "Kita Ha Peila".
In Navi we all "yecht" together as we learned about Adonee Bezek , the king who lost his thumbs and big toes. We also discussed the important role of the Shofet (judge) who had to be not only a spiritual leader but a first class warrior.
And finally in Dinim we started to discuss Rosh Hashana and will continue learning the pertaining laws.
Today we will come home again with a riveting Dvar Torah to enhance the Shabbat table, so please be sure to ask your child to share it with you.
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Robin
And now a word from our star reporters:
Always on the scene and prepared………
From Efraim:
Oh boy what a week. We had some crazy things happening. First we had no school on Monday and believe it or not there was Machmud, Chamud, guards, foreign Jews, Paroh, and his advisors in our classroom .Well besides that we were working hard. For example we had tests and worksheets. Well I don't have a lot of time so I need to get to other things. We also had a bloody week. Adony Bezek lost his thumbs and toes.(ew) Well to get back to the point, we had a very busy week.
Efraim
From Ariella: (What was going on in Morah Robin's mind??)
I'm so happy that we had Monday off. Now I have time to plan out my week. On Tuesday I hope to teach the kids about Pharaoh and his plan to kill Bnai Yisrael. On Wednesday I hope to split the class up into groups for skits. I will give them pesukim to act out. On Thursday I will teach the class about Adonee Bezek. The class will love hearing about how his thumbs and toes got cut off. On Friday we will have our Shabbos party and announce the student of the week.
