YOU WERE SO FANTASTIC TODAY, I AM SO PROUD OF EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!! KOL HAKAVOD!!
Not only did you manage to put on a play successfully in such short notice, but you were also great waiters and waitresses using Ivrit and the "mis'ada" was wonderful!

Remember that I have postponed the Mishna test till Tuesday to give you more than ample time to review the mishnayot we have learned. Based on your performances today, it looks like you guys really know your mishnayot.
I would love to have you learn some by heart..... we need some new Mishna men/women....

Tomorrow , B"H, we will return to our "normal" schedule again, so be prepared to learn a lot!!

grade 5/ Teh Im Tanna tomorrow!!

You were all great today in rehearsal and in preparing everything for tomorrow. I am so happy to see you all excited about our special siyum tomorrow. So please reread your lines yet again and bring anything you need for tomorrow. Some dishtowels would be good for the mis'ada part of the morning, you know for the waiters, etc.

I will postpone the mishna test. Tell you when in class.

We had our last test today from Parshat Chayei Sarah and then we had a grrrreat Parsha Party!
Thank you to all parents who sent in food and drinks. It was all delicious! The children had a fun time and showed their knowledge of the parsha by the different games we played. Some also performed or read some pesukim from the parsha.

For tomorrow: Please review pesukim 19-21 in perek 25 in Parshat Toldot.

We had a great time today baking our delcious dessert for the siyum, didn't we and learning how to say everything in Ivrit. We will continue to work and finish up the loose ends for our siyum tomorrow. You should be constantly reviewing the mishnayot especially in preparation for the siyum and the test next Thursday.

We are very busy this week preparing for our special event this coming WED. Please remember to save the date and join us at the new Israeli restaurant: Teh Im Tanna at 9:15 a.m. on the morning of Rosh Chodesh Adar to celebrate our siyum of perek aleph in Masechet Brachot.

Thank you to all those who sent in recipes for our "hamentashim". We will bake them tomorrow morning as part of our Ivrit lesson.

Please review the last mishna of the perek : mishna heh and start studying for our mishna test which will be next Thursday!! on the whole perek and the 5 mishnayot we have learned.

Bring aprons for our baking tomorrow so your clothes stay clean!

In Ivrit: There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday on the 10 words we reviewed again today. The children really know these words well, but review is always good.

The school is collecting $1.00 from each student to go towards Purim baskets (mishloach manot) for the soldiers of the IDF. Please send in a dollar w/ your child tomorrow.

Ask your child about the water cycle " machzor hamayim". They know it now in Hebrew!!

We had a busy day with our Tu B'Shevat seder and a fire drill! Due to a lack of time the h.w. was not written down. I told the children to review the new pesukim we learned today in perek 25: pesukim 7-11.

There will be a vocab quiz this week on Friday. We will review the words tomorrow. I will also post them here.

grade 5/ feb. 8th h.w. OVER THE WEEKEND!!

I normally do not give homework over the weekend, but, unfortunately, I had to this time. The students know that they "earned" it by not showing the best "derech eretz" this week. There has been a decline on the behavior scale and this is a reminder that minutes wasted in class on unnecessary chatter will be made up over the weekend.

Chumash: questions 1-5 at the top of page 7 beth in the Chumash packet.
Also to choose one pasuk from perek gimel: Learn it by heart and illustrate it nicely on a piece of paper. Use typing paper or construction paper. Make lines with a RULER and copy your pasuk neatly on the lines, then draw your picture, or use clip art or cut out pictures to illustrate.

Ladies of the class (except for Hava who did her homework- yeah Hava!): you have to do an extra pasuk to memorize and illustrate like above.

Chumash test: WED. Feb. 11th. on perek gimel from pasuk 11 till end.

Remember to dress in green for Monday: It is Tu B'shevat!!

We will be starting the next perek this week and since there are only 18 pesukim in it in order to finish the Parasha, I think we will wait to have a reeeeal big Parsha Party to celebrate our completion of Parshat Chayei Sarah.
