Chumash: There will be a test on perek 24 pesukim 1-14 next week on Wednesday, B"H.
Your child should review a few pesukim each night, being able to read and explain most of the words. They did do a review sheet on these pesukim, and will be responsible only for the vocabulary on that review sheet as far as the vocabulary. They should also be able to follow the story and answer questions on it. It will be open book and they will use the Chumash to answer the questions.

Reminder: Navi test tomorrow on perek gimel. Use the study guide to help you know what to study, especially those 6 pesukim you are required to understand. Three of them will be on the test and use the questions from the packet (w/ dagger) to review the perek. Remember I will be collecting it tomorrow after the test to see your comic strips and make sure the packet is complete.

grade 3/ nov. 23
Chumash: On review worksheet I gave and that we started today, please do part B (chelek beth) on p. 2 answer the two questions there . You can answer in English or Hebrew. The rest of the sheet part aleph 6-12 and part gimel are "challenge" h.w. and need not be done , or can be done partially. Please do not help (too much) w/ the challenge part. It really should be your child's work. You can just explain a word or two, but they should be able to handle it independently or it need not be done.

Forgot to remind that Navi h.w. from last week is due tomorrow: p. 6 of the perek gimel (dagger packet) is due tomorrow. To write a comic strip of the story of Ehud. Use real quotes from the Navi for your comics. Make it colorful and show much effort, thought, and knowledge!

I enjoyed meeting with you on Wednesday and discussing your child's progress. As usual, it has been a busy and exciting week in Kita Gimel. In Chumash we have continued our story of Eliezer going to Haran to find a wife for Yitzchak. We left him at the well asking Hashem for a sign that the ….. Please ask your child what the sign is and these other questions:
2. How many camels did Eliezer take with him?
3. What else did Eliezer take with him?
4. Where does he stop in Haran with his camels?
5. What time of day was it?
6. Who was there by the well?
7.What's the Chumash language for "well"?

We also started an exciting project. The children are working with a partner . They chose 10 phrases they learned from this new perek and from the last one. They printed out the words on the computer in any font they liked. Then they put these phrases on a big poster and will illustrate the phrases. We just began this on Thursday, but already they look great! We will continue them next week, B"H. Today you child will once again come home with another exciting D'var Torah to share at the Shabbat table. Please encourage him/her to and then don't forget to sign it before they return it to school so I know they told it to you. They should decorate it for our Yofi Shel Parasha corner. We are busy working on our Crazy Connection Collages for Chumash, ( although we really didn't have much time for them this week), and will also begin actually building the unique chanukiot, now that we have made our sketches. Although we are getting supplies from Ms. Neiwirth, (thank you!!), we still may need odds and ends. For this the students will make their own "wish" lists and bring them home at the beginning of next week. Today we will start learning about Hanuka and of course, your child will come home with an exciting D'var Torah to share with you at the Shabbat table.
