grade 5/ dec. 21

Chumash: in Tal Am workbook pgs. 54-55 on the new pesukim of perek gimel aleph - vav.
Also review these pesukim as part of Kebaba. Also review the rashi;s on pasuk aleph that we did today in class.

Don't forget to get your Chumash tests signed and corrected, if needed.

There will be no h.w . winter break, however, learning Torah is not h.w., it is a pleasure!! So practice reading the new pesukim and even read a bit ahead in perek gimel, to improve your reading ability.

Have a wonderful winter break!

grade 5/ dec. 14th PARENTS PLEASE READ!

There will be a dinim test on Chanukah on Thursday, so as there is really no other h.w. for tomorrow, I would take advantage and study for it. You need to know the two page handout which really has all the dinim we have learned.

Some of the chanukiot have broken b/c of the drying clay we used. It was probably due to the very cold temps. I will try to bring more clay tomorrow of the not drying kind. If anyone has play dough or the like and can contribute, that would be a great help!!

Also the children suggested having a gift swap at our Chanukah party this Friday.( more about the party at the end). In Israel it is called having a secret "anak" (giant) while you are the "gamad" ( dwarf) so it is called "anak v'gamad." We can also call it the "secret dreidel" where each child will buy an inexpensive present for a classmate whose name they will pick out of a hat. The price limit is $3.00 so please don't spend more , also please get a gift that is good for either a boy or a girl since the children won't know who they are the "anak" or secret dreidel for until Friday when they pick the names out of a hat.
We will be having a Chanukah party this Friday for our class celebrating the last day of Chanukah. If your child asks for a treat please make sure it has the proper kosher symbol accepted by the school. We are also celebrating the completion of two prakim in Chumash and two in Navi. ( I owe them these "perek parties" for quite some time).

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation!

weekly bulletin for grade 3/ dec.4th

17th Kislev, 5770
Dec. 4th, 2009

Shalom Dear Parents,
As usual, it has been a busy and exciting week in Kita Gimel. In Chumash we had our Chumash test on perek 24 pesukim 1-14 and hopefully I will be returning them the beginning of next week. Please remember to ask your child for it and to sign it and return it to me.
We are continuing our exciting Chumash project and they look just beautiful! The children really enjoyed choosing from the many phrases in Chumash that they learned, typed them up on the computers and are busy illustrating them on their posters with their partners. Soon when they are done you will be able to see them in our hallway. This week we also did another lesson in Second Step. Please see the attached letter. We continue to explore the concept of feelings and this time realized that two people can react very differently to the same situation. We have also started learning our dinim for Chanuka. The children received a packet, but we will also be working from the Tal Am workbook on selected exercises. Today your child will once again come home with another exciting D'var Torah to share at the Shabbat table. Please encourage him/her to and then don't forget to sign it before they return it to school so I know they told it to you. They should decorate it for our Yofi Shel Parasha corner. Please check my blog regularly for all h.w. and updates. Thank you for your cooperation!

Shabbat Shalom!

weekly bulletin for grade 5 / dec. 4th

Dec 4th, 2009
17th Kislev, 5770

Shalom Dear Parents,
As usual, it has been a busy and exciting week in Kita Heh. On Tuesday we had the privilege of a visit from Rabbi Heyman, the creator of the Bonayich Mishnah program that we are using. Rabbi Heyman enjoyed sitting in and seeing the wonderful progress the children are making. We are now learning about the structure of the Mishnah. In Chumash we are wrapping up perek beth and are discussing the wonderful attributes of Moshe which made him worthy of being the leader of the Jewish people. There will be a Chumash test on perek beth from pasuk 11 until the end of the perek next Friday, Dec. 11th. This is to allow the children enough time to review since it is a substantial amount of material. They should review a number of pesukim each night and NOT leave it all for next Thursday, please. The children are finishing up their collages in Chumash and will be presenting them next week. In Navi we have started perek daled and are learning about the next shofet, excuse me, shofetet (judgess ), the only woman to be a judge, Devorah.. We are also busy starting our Dinim lessons about Chanuka and will finally begin the Chanukiot project. On Friday we will have our next Second Step lesson about recognizing that people can react differently to the same thing. Please look for the letter attached here. Today your child will come home with an exciting D'var Torah to share with you at the Shabbat table. Please check my blog regularly for all h.w. and updates. Thank you for your cooperation!

Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Robin

And now for a word from our class reporter: Ioni Wolfson:
Ioni reports: This week on Tuesday, Rabbi Heyman, the creator of the Bonayich came to visit us and Aaron Ackerman said the 63 masechtot of the Mishnah by heart to him. He was surprised at how much we've learned from his books. We learned about how and when the Oral Torah was written down. On Wednesday we played "hot potato" in class and answered questions about Chanuka. We also worked on our collage project. We still didn't really start on our Chanuka project, but will in a little bit. We did a packet on Chanuka on Wednesday and it was easy for some of the people in class. On Thursday we learned about the qualities that made Moshe a great leader and we started a new perek in Navi.

grade 3/ dec. 1

Reminder: Tomorrow is the Chumash test on perek 24 pesukim 1-14. The children have their review sheets ( and yes I did check that they aaaall took it home ) . The first part of the test will have the vocabulary of which I will give them 8 out of those 12 on the sheet. The other part will ask questions on the story of these pesukim, like the questions on page two of the review sheets. There will also be bonus questions. The children will be using their chumshonim, if they need them. They will be able to answer the questions in English or Hebrew or Chumash Hebrew. Extra credit will be awarded those answers in Hebrew or Chumash Hebrew.
We reviewed today and the whole class, really without exception, showed wonderful comprehension of these pesukim.
