Mishna for Friday: review the worksheets we have been doing. (These worksheets are really from their Bonayich workbooks which at present are still stuck in customs.!)
Upcoming tests: Sept. 8th WED : Test on Rosh Hashana
Sept. 14th : Chumash test on perek aleph psukim 1-7
We have still not completed the material for either test, I just wanted the children to be aware that they are lurking in the near future.

grade 3/ h.w. for aug. 31
Today we learned more about Rosh Hashana and did not do Chumash. I told the children since we will be focusing on learning about the holidays now and have a bit less time for Chumash , they could review the worksheet we did today for Kebaba as long as they read the sentences aloud and hopefully explain as much as they can. We did explain in class so they should be able to explain at home. I have also asked them not to do a repeat of the same exact psukim or now also sentences more than 3 times. I will go over the "rules" for kebaba when we meet at Open night which has been postponed until after Rosh Hashana. If you have any questions, please don't wait till then. You can email me at school: relbaz@torahacademy.org or leave me a comment here and I will respond.
So h.w . is to review the page on Elul and Rosh Hashana that we did today. It should be in their yellow folders.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation!

grade 3/ aug. 30
There is no h.w. today . We did "chagim" in our lesson and learned about the different names for Rosh Hashana. The children started working on a project which I did not want to risk sending home to complete, since it could tear easily. So they can do Kebaba on psukim 1-2 meanwhile.

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Shabbat.
Some reminders: H.W. in Chumash: the worksheet we started in class on Friday , is due tomorrow.
Review your reading of psukim 1-7, see what you understand since we did review some of the vocabulary already.
For Tues: Mishna: know the mishna of the Mesorah: Moshe kibel Torah miSinai....... by heart and finish up the worksheets we started in class, in case you did not.
Make sure you gave your parents my weekly bulletin to read and if you gave the D'var Torah about the parsha from the parsha page, then please make sure you have someone sign it or write a comment and bring it back tomorrow. If you decorate it , it may get put up in our Yofi Shel Parasha corner.
Secret password: "anshei knesset ha'gedola" (how many were there and who transferred the Torah to them?)

I hope you all had a good Shabbat and heard a D'var Torah about this week's parsha from your third grader. If you did, then please don't forget to sign it or even write a short comment. Also your child should color it and make it beautiful for our "Yofi Shel Parasha" corner.
I hope you also read my weekly bulletin so that you know what we did our first week of school.
And finally, I hope to see you all this Thursday night at our Meet the Teacher program.

grade 3/ aug. 26th
Chumash: Read psukim aleph and beth in perek 23 of Chayei Sarah. The children will be bringing home their KEBABA letters for you to sign and return tomorrow and their first Kebaba chart to start doing. (Red folder ) They can do Kebaba once a day only. PLease listen to your child as he/she reads to you from the psukim we learned. If they can explain parts, or all to you , great. If they can't that is also ok at this stage, and just leave the "hesber" or explanation column blank. We did not really explain these psukim in detail today, just practiced our reading and general understanding. Don't forget to write them a compliment for their reading !
CHagim: (yellow folder) They should complete their illustration of the "pitgam" (saying) they chose about Chodesh Elul , color it, etc. by Monday and return to school.
Thank you!

Chumash: in Tal Am workbook pgs. 6-7 On page 7 you need to do parts daled and heh. The challenge parts are vav, zayin and chet. All h.w. should be done without help. (ok a word or two is fine).
Read perek aleph psukim 1-7 .
KEBABA letters and sheets went home today! So you can start kebaba on perek aleph in Sefer Shmot psukim 1-7 (only) Please do not go ahead. Kebaba can be done only on what we learn in class. You do not have to explain yet (since we haven't explained all yet), but just to read aloud accurately. PLEASE RETURN THE KEBABA LETTER (to parents )SIGNED TOMORROW.
Secret password: shvatim ( can you tell me the names of all the shevatim?) Hint: They're in the psukim you read for h.w.

GRADE 3/ AUG. 25TH
H.W.: We are working on the skill of navigating the Chumash with ease. When we did it in class today , the children did not really know how to find the correct psukim, so a little more practice at home. They need to do the sheet in their Chumash folder (red folder). If your child can do it with ease, then please add a challenge like timing her/him to see how quickly they can find the answer.
Thank you!

WELCOME KITA HEH: FIFTH GRADE AUG. 24
BRUCHIM HA'BAIM L'KITA HEH! (wasn't it just yesterday they were in third grade???)
It was so wonderful to see my "third graders" today. Wow how everyone has grown! What a busy day we had! We mostly were busy getting organized and learning our class rules with the acronym: DNA which stands for: Derech Eretz, Neatness (organization) and Academic behavior (student's responsibilities) . I will speak more about this at Open night. We reminded ourselves what the Kebaba club is and even got some hw.
The page your child brought home today is a preactivity for our study of Sefer Shmot. Shmot is Hebrew for Names and I thought this would be an interesting activity before we actually start the Chumash. I hope your fifth grader asked you about the origin of his/her Hebrew name: why you chose that name , etc. It will be very interesting to hear back from them tomorrow.
I am looking forward to a very exciting and learning filled year together!!
