grade 3/ dec. 20th test tomorrow!

Friendly reminder: Chumash test tomorrow on perek 24 psukim 1-14 including two Rashi's : on pasuk aleph: Vayivarech Hashem et Avraham bakol and from pasuk 10: Migemalei Adonav. At this point I will not test on the reading of these RAshi's but just on knowing what it is that Rashi says. Please use the review packet which we completed in class to help your child review the important vocabulary and questions.
The test will be taken with an open Chumash so they should know how to find the answers they need, especially in the vocabulary part, just like we practiced in class.

Use the packet and study guide to help you, especially review the 6 psukim in the study guide that you need to know for the test, I will be choosing three of them for you to answer questions on. You will have the psukim in the test. You are not required to know them by heart!

grade 3/ dec. 16th hw

We added this to their weekly sheet: answer questions 1-4 in part Beth of the review packet.

Original hw: to review psukim 10-14. Once again the test will be next Tuesday, not Monday, though the children showed me today that they really know their Chumash!

I am happy to see much improvement in the hw preparation and a very large number of students are being consistent about homework preparation. Only one student did not have today's hw prepared. Let's keep this up!!

PLease look for my bulletin in the friday folder tomorrow, as well as the study sheets for the test and the parsha page.

grade 3/ dec. 15th hw and test update

Today I sent home a review packet for our Chumash test. Please make sure it is returned in their folders since we will be working on it in class. The hw is: to answer 1-5 in the first part. This is for tomorrow.
Also please note that Thursday's hw (that which is due for Friday) will also include answering questions 1-4 in part BEth. It is not written in the weekly hw sheet. We will add it tomorrow.
We will be working on the packet in class and it does review what the children need to know for the test. They actually show wonderful knowledge! The test will be Tuesday and not Monday, as I wrote already in yesterday's blog. This is to allow maximum time for review.

Thank you to all the children who brought in articles for our Israel corner. I will be sending home the articles before winter break. Also thank you to parents and children who bring in different things to share with the class: DVD's , books, CD's etc about tefilah, Chanuka, etc. They are all greatly appreciated even if we don't always have enough time to enjoy them thoroughly.

REminder: Chumash hw due tomorrow in Tal Am
Mishna: just review the sections of the mishna: how it is divided: Seder, Masechet, Perek, mishna and that there are Six Sedarim. you will eventually need to know them by heart!

Also we have two tests coming up back to back so do not leave your review for last minute. Each night review ! I will not be giving much more hw this week to allow time for review for the tests.

Navi: next week Tuesday
Chumash: next week Wed.

grade 3/ dec. 14th UPDATE ON CHUMASH TEST

In Chumash: we reviewed the "old " psukim 1-10 and resumed working on psukim 11-14. We read a real Rashi from the Chumash in pasuk aleph. Ask your third grader to read it for you and to explain it. I was so impressed by the children's reading of Rashi.
We also started a worksheet on psukim 10-14 which we will finish tomorrow. I do expect the children to answer question 4 for me since we answered orally in class, but did not have time to write the answer in. The second half of the sheet does not have to be done at home, unless your child wants to do it. It is a CHALLENGE part and we will be doing it tomorrow in class.

About the Chumash test: It will be next TUESDAY and not MONDAY , as originally told. I see the children need more time to review. They will have a review sheet that we will do in class which will cover all the information they need, so they can use it to study when we are done.

grade 3/ dec. 13th Upcoming Chumash test

A new hw assignment sheet for the week is in your student's planner so please take a look. I will still put the hw in the blog, too.

Today we had our Chanuka Dinim test and those who finished quickly had time to do a Rashi worksheet where they practiced reading their friends' names in Rashi letters. There will be a different Rashi worksheet for hw to do tonight. We will also be starting an exciting new Rashi project soon.

There will be a Chumash test on perek 24 psukim 1-14 next week Monday. We will have a review sheet which will help the children review and study. Today we did not do Chumash b/c of the dinim test, but will resume our Chumash studies tomorrow, B"H. It is recommended to review a few psukim each night so as not to have them all to study on one night. Please see the hw weekly sheet for my recommendations.

grade 3/ dec. 8th tomorrow!!

We can't wait for our play tomorrow, B"H. We are all so excited!! Please don't forget to bring in any prop , if you were told to. Also everyone (unless otherwise told) should be wearing dark solid colors tomorrow, please. Parents: our show should start by 10:00 tomorrow, but I suggest arriving at 9:30 when the program begins , if you want to get a good seat. The Lower School program is in two parts with K-2 performing first from 9:30 -10:00, but you never know and their part might be over earlier. We are the first to perform in the second part which starts at 9:55 ish.
NO CAMERA FLASHES PLEASE DURING THE SHOW. YOU CAN TAKE PICS AFTER.

grade 3/ dec. 7th about the play and what to wear.....?

Just a reminder: your child was told what he needs to wear for our play as well as for tomorrow's dress rehearsal. Please make sure they comply especially for Thursday when we are performing. Thank you!! In case your child did not bring home his/her card then all the children (unless told otherwise) need to be in dark solid colors for tops and bottoms. Thank you!

We hope to see you on Thursday at 9:30 for the Lower School Chanuka program and for our play.

HAPPY CHANUKA EVERYONE!! CHAG CHANUKA SAMEACH!!

The only hw is to review what we are learning in the Chanuka packet. And of course to go over the part in the play and the songs. We are really focusing on our Chanuka presentation and did not learn Chumash today, but we did progress in our Chanuka packet. We also have a rehearsal in the shul today. Tomorrow we will be learning about the parsha through our Parsha workbook. Depending h0w rehearsals go today, I will see if we need another one tomorrow. If we do, then we will have to suffice with the parsha workbook and I will not be able to give the children a parsha page this week, only the parsha through pictures in their workbooks. Please look for my newsletter in their folder tomorrow. I will also email it to you. We hope you can come to our play next Thursday at 9:30!! We are working very hard and are very excited about it!

The only hw is the one I already gave you on Monday which was in Chumash pgs. 34-35 in Tal Am due Friday. I will not add any hw. Hey, it is Chanuka , enjoy it with your families!!

I will also not be giving any tests during Chanuka so please note the Dinim test on Chanuka will be next week Friday, the 10th. We are almost finished our study of the dinim so you have plenty of time to review.

Since no one has been giving me the Secret password recently, there won't be one today. Starting next week: The Secret STudent!!
