morah robin's weekly newsletter for sept. 9th for grade 3

Shalom Third Grade Parents,
The second week of school has been a busy one! In Chumash we should know the first two psukim really well by now. We even explained , actually Rashi explained, why the word "shana" is repeated so often when telling Sarah's age. You can ask your third grader what Rashi said. We did not read this Rashi, I just told it to them. However, we are starting to learn to read Rashi and that is very exciting. The children received their new Rashi packets and can see that reading Rashi is not so difficult. Why don't you also ask them to tell you something about Rashi himself? I am happy to say that we have a student who has already completed the first stage of Kebaba! Kol HaKavod to Chaya Batya, (Julia) Cieplinski ! Your child can read up till pasuk 6 now for Kebaba, but we have not yet explained psukim 3-6 yet. In Chagim we are busy learning in our Chagim packets about the month of Elul. Today each child wrote down a mitzvah or good deed that they would like to get better at, or take upon themselves in the month of Elul. Each day we will read one and try to get inspired by the lovely ideas. Today your child will come home with another beautiful D'var Torah to share at the Shabbat table. Please encourage them to do so. If returned signed they earn a sticker and if decorated it may hang in our "Yofi Shel Parasha" corner and participate in our "beautiful parsha contest." Today we will have a super Shabbat party led by Rabbi Elbaz and hear a story from Rabbi Hauser.
Please check my blog often as I do update it daily. Please always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope to see you this coming Wednesday night!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Robin
