In your child's red folder is a worksheet for hw tonight. They need to write whether the word is : "zachar" ( masculine) or "nekeiva" ( feminine). There will be a quiz on this skill this coming Monday.
Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the Chumash test on perek 23 in Chayei Sarah psukim 1-6 including the 2 rashi's we have learned, not to read at this point, just to know.
Please follow the pretest as a guide of what to focus on.
The Chumash test will be this Friday on psukim 1-6 in perek 23 parashat Chayei Sarah. We had a pretest/review today. The sheet is in your child's planner and should be used as focus for review/study. Only hw till the test is to study. Recommend spending 10 mins. a night on review of psukim and the two rashi's we learned. An email was sent to each parent with this info. Laila Tov! Morah Robin
HW: today we learned about "Bal Tashchit" which means not to destroy, ruin, waste, etc. Your child needs to write 2 ways to apply the mitzvah of "bal tashchit" at home and write it on the back of p.,4 in his/her Noach packet for hw. Some ideas: not to waste food, electricity: turn off lights, , water: shut faucet, etc. The weekly assignment sheet is stapled into your child's planner. Please take a look. Thank you! Morah Robin
We read some new psukim today in our Noach packet on p. 3 psukim 11, 12, 13. The children understand the main idea: that people were destroying the world by behaving very badly to one another until Hashem who "saw" this said that He had to destroy the world. But Noach was the only "tsadik" in that generation and Hashem would save him. Ask your child to find the words that mean "destroy" or "become bad/evil". They are from the same word family (root) and we highlighted them today. Also the word that means: bad deeds (chamas).
I will send home the weekly assignment sheet in their planners tomorrow so you know what to expect for this week.
Welcome Back and I hope everyone had a wonderful chag (holiday)! There is a new assignment sheet in your child's planner with the week's work. Tonight's hw is on p. 12 in the Rashi packet. PLease read the instructions (in English) in order to know what to do. Also to start review of psukim 1-6 in perek 23 in Parshat Chayei Sarah. I told the children they were having a Chumash test this week on Thursday, but I see that they already have an English test scheduled for that day. Since I understand that there is substantial material for them to know for English, and the Chumash test also covers quite a lot of material, I will change the date for my test. PLease check in tomorrow here and on your child's assignment sheet for the new date. I am thinking of either this Friday or next Monday, just don't want to postpone too much, so they don't forget the material.
Please make sure you check your child's folder for my weekly newsletter (last week's is this one's with mon. and tues.). If you did not get it for any reason, please email me and I will email you a copy. Please review the new Succot packet with your child (up till what we learned). They love showing you what they know. Thank you and have a wonderful Succot! Chag Sameach! Morah Robin
Please make sure you see your child's Rosh Hashana test which is in his/her planner. PLease sign it when you get a chance so I know you saw it. I emailed my newsletter. PLease let me know if you did not get it or could not open it. Thank you and Chag Sameach!! Morah Robin
Shana Tova Everybody! We will be spending the majority of our lessons this week learning our new packet on Yom Kippur and the Aseret Yemei Teshuva ( 10 days of Repentance). We will try to continue our Noah packet, but cannot promise anything , since when we complete our Yom Kippur packet , we will be starting on our Succot one!! So much to learn!! The weekly assignment sheet will be stapled into your child's planner, so you can see ahead what is expected this week. Changes may be necessary , so please check it each day. Thank you! Morah Robin
Shana Tova Everybody! Tomorrow is our test on Rosh Hashana packet. A study guide was sent home today as well as attached to an email for the parents. I told the students that they don't need to memorize anything, but to recognize and understand. There will be matching and fill in questions (w/ answer banks, hence the recognizing and understanding, but not actually producing from memory). Please review the nine points you need to know. B'hatslacha! (Good Luck!) Laila Tov! Morah Robin
