fifth grade judaic newsletter for May 3rd

B”H

                                                Morah Robin’s Newsletter/ May 3rd

We had another busy, busy week in Kita Heh. In addition to getting ready for our Achievement Fair, we continued to  progress with our Judaic curriculum. In Chumash we have completed our study of psukim 1-18 in perek 45 of Parshat Vayigash and are ready for our test this coming Monday, B”H. In order to help review Chumash vocabulary, we have been working on our virtual flashcards. The links were sent home by email and have been posted on my blog, but I will write them here, too. They are: http://www.flashcardmachine.com/2526661/5ad7 and http://www.flashcardmachine.com/2551975/8hti . We also learned a few Rashi’s on psukim 12 and 14 and these should also be studied for the test. The children quickly grasped the meaning of these Rashi’s and even figured out Rashi’s questions before we read them. What great minds! We also started our next mini project: Pharaoh’s royal invitation to Yaakov to come down to Mizraim. Of course we can’t just write them in Hebrew, we also need to have some more fun with hieroglyphics! These projects along with the ones you saw at the Achievement Fair, which were done at the beginning of the year, will soon adorn our hallway bulletin board.  Speaking of the Achievement Fair, thank you for sharing in your child’s achievements and we hope you enjoyed seeing the different projects and displays. It was so heartwarming to see how proud the students were of their accomplishments.

In Navi we began perek 8 which tells us about the war Gideon Ben Yoash leads against Midyan. We will continue that perek next week. By the way, the last Navi test went home last week. Please make sure you see your child’s grade. We also learned the laws of the Omer and about Lag B’Omer in Dinim and will continue learning about Shavuot, which is just around the corner. The year is going by so fast!

Please encourage your child to share this week’s parsha with you and to return signed on Monday,B”H.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Robin
