B"H
Shalom Fifth Grade Parents,
Just a short update of our week in Judaic class in Kita Heh and upcoming news. In Chumash we completed our study of Parshat Mikeitz !! Yishar Koach to our wonderful students who show such great knowledge of this parsha. We will have our Chumash test, as you already know, tomorrow on the last 17 psukim of this parsha : perek 44 1-17. The students have 2 packets from which to review when they study. We also had a short "shmiz" on the Chumash vocabulary on Friday and those quizzes went home, so please ask to see and sign. Your child is working on an ongoing project called a "Chumshilon" which is a made up word formed from Chumash and "milon" (dictionary). They will be writing new Chumash phrases there and illustrating them. They will be responsible for any word/phrase they have written and illustrated in this special notebook. I told them that I can always quiz them on any word there without any notice, so nightly review is strongly recommended.
From now on ALL quizzes and tests must be signed by you and returned so I mark it in my gradebook. If not, it will count as a Late Letter and please remember that 4 of those in any given quarter result in an after school detention. Your student is responsible to bring this to your attention.
Kebaba needs to be restarted and is compulsory for at least once a week. Not doing Kebaba will result in the lowering of your student's Chumash and Navi averages this coming quarter.
In Navi we continue our study of the perek vav (6) in Sefer Shoftim and are learning about the new shofet: Gideon Ben Yoash. The students are continuing their Navi Power Point project of Navi phrases.
In Halacha/Chagim: we began our study of Purim in our new Megila packet which covers selected psukim from the Megila and historical background. We will also have a Dinim packet for Purim , which will be distributed this coming week, B"H.
In Parsha we learned about this week's parsha. I hope your child shared it with you . Please remember to sign and return if they did.
This coming week we will start the new parsha in Sefer Bereisheet: VaYigash and continue perek vav in Navi and our packets on Purim. Please remember to return any library books since we have library Tues. morning.
As always please contact me with any concerns or questions.
Wishing you a Shavua Tov and Chodesh tov!
Morah Robin
