B”H
MORAH ROBIN’S NEWSLETTER/ APR.14TH
We had a
very busy week in Kita Heh. We started the week with a special lesson devoted
to Yom HaShoah V’Hagvurah. We saw amazing photos from the Jerusalem Post, testimony
to the indomitable, amazing spirit of the Jewish people and then read poetry
written by children in the Shoah . In fact the theme we were dealing with was
all about the unbreakable spirit of our people. Afterwards the students wrote a
6 word memoir expressing their feelings, knowledge, and reaction to our
activity. You can view those and the beautiful poster Isabella Abelman did ,on
her own initiative at home that day, at our Celebration of Achievement on May 1st,
B”H.
In
Chumash we have fine-tuned our understanding of psukim 1-10 in perek 45 and
will continue with new psukim this week. In order to help retain the new
Chumash vocabulary, I posted a link to a virtual flashcard website where I
prepared flashcards on the vocab and the students can review at their leisure
and even quiz themselves. It is an excellent site and I will be using it often.
I did send an email about it and it is on my blog. Please let me know if you
did not get the email. In Navi we have completed perek vav and will have the
test this coming Thursday. On Monday the students will get the study guide and
any vocabulary they need to review. We also started an exciting Navi project on
Sefer Shoftim which will be exhibited at the Achievement Fair, B”H. Thank you
for the shoeboxes and to Mrs. Andrusier for sending in 12 !! We are now shoe
box replete. Speaking of projects, the
students started presenting their last Navi assignment which was a Power Point
on Navi words and phrases, and I can tell you they have done an amazing job! We
will continue viewing them this coming week.
And now
drum roll please…… The Melech and Malka of the important Middah ( virtue) of
Sameach B’chelko ( being happy with what you have) are:
This time
we have 2 Melachim: Ben Zion Gisser and Yonatan Cohen
Our Malka
is: Simmy Kaltmann . You can see their pictures below and on our blog. Kol
HaKavod to these students who show a content spirit and smiling face, even when
things don’t go their way. In the month of Iyar we will be working on the
important Middah of: “מְכבֵּד את הבִּרְיוֹת ( respecting others)”, suitable for during
these days of the Omer when Rabbi Akiva’s students were punished for not
showing respect to one another, how important
to work on this vital virtue.
