study guide for Sefer Shoftim perek vav test BUT without vocab page

Here is a copy of the study guide, however, without the vocab. page. If you need anther copy please see me before WED. The test, as you recall, is this Thursday.

You should read the perek and then use the worksheets we have learned in class for review and focus. Once you have done that, see that you know the following:

1. Why was B”Y punished and who was the enemy and for how long?

2. What did B”Y do b/c of this enemy? ( pasuk bet)

3. What did this enemy do to B”Y? How do we know they were many? How do we know they were successful?

( B/c of the words: וַיִדַל ישרָאל מְאֹד= B”Y became very poor)

4. Which words in pasuk vav tell us that B”Y have done Teshuva?

5. Does Hashem send a shofet right away now that they have done Teshuva? Who does He send? Why?

6. Know that Gideon is the son of Yoash from Shevet Menashe, youngest son , and lives in Ofra.

7. Where is גדעון when the malach comes to him? Why is he there?

8. What is the first thing the malach says to גדעון? what is גדעון's answer? What does this show about the situation?

9. Who does גדעון think his visitor is?

10. What is גדעון ‘s reaction when the malach tells him he is the מושיע of B”Y?

11. Why does גדעון want an אות from the visitor and what is it?

12. What is גדעון's reaction when he realizes his visitor was a מלאך ה' ?

13. What is the first thing Hashem tells גדעון to do?

14. Explain how גדעון does this?

15. What happens in the morning?

16. How does גדעון's dad protect him?

17. There are 3 meanings to his new name. Know at least 2.

18. Where did the enemy camp?

19. Which shevatim came to war?

20. What are the 2 signs גדעון asks Hashem for? Why 2 signs?

Do you think גדעון is ready now to take on the enemies?
