B"H
Shalom Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
Our second week of school was extremely busy! In Chumash we had our first test of the year and it will be going home soon. We also started our next group of new psukim and are working on psukim 8-14 in perek 41 parshat mikeitz. This time we are learning about Paro's reaction to the two strange dreams he had and his demand to find someone who can interpret his dreams. We read about Sar Hamashkim ( the butler) who tells him about Yosef. Once again we are tackling the Chumash vocabulary and by doing all sorts of exercises: matching, mime and memory games, are trying to remember these new words. We will also be acting out some of the psukim ( I have some props and costumes) ,but didn't get a chance to do that yet this week. In Navi we learned about the two tribes Yehuda and Shimon who continued conquering their "nachala" ( territory) and the story of Adonee Bezek and the city of Bezek which they conquer. I am sure your student would love to share that story with you , so please ask them about it, (but not before a meal!). In Dinim we are busy learning about Chodesh Elul and Rosh Hashana. We even found a "crazy connection" between Rosh Hashana and what we are learning in Chumash: Yosef was let out of the prison on Rosh Hashana!
Tomorrow ( Friday) we will learn about this week's parsha and have an Oneg Shabbat led by Rabbi Elbaz. Please encourage your child to share the parsha page with you and returned signed. If decorated it will hang in our Yofi Shel Parasha corner, too.
Please let me know of any concerns or questions.
I hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
Shabbat Shalom!
Morah Robin
