Second Grade Judaic newsletter/ Oct. 26th

B”H

                                    Morah Robin’s Judaic Newsletter/ Oct. 26th

We had a busy and productive week in our Second Grade Judaic classroom. We also enjoyed beautiful, unusual spring like weather ( hence the ladybugs!).  In  Chumash we completed our study of the six days of the Creation and will sum up and review all the days next week with a new packet. We are also completing our “Briah ( Creation) Albums” and will start a mini poster next week where not only will we illustrate , but use the many words and phrases we have learned in the course of our study of this parsha.  We are due to begin Parshat Noah next week and the children will be getting a new packet for that study. You will be able to see the progress in our work just by comparing this packet to the previous one on Bereisheet. In Noah there will be many more psukim that we will learn as we take our learning up a notch in our Chumash classroom.

Our skits on the midrash about the moon are coming along beautifully. We have one group whose members all know their parts by heart! I have yet to choose which group/s will be performing for other classes, but this group is certainly a strong candidate. Please encourage your child to learn his/her part by heart, too. Speaking of parts this weekend I will be busy working on a Chanuka skit for our second graders. Hopefully it will be ready and given out sometime next week. We continue learning from our Lehavin U’Lehaskil workbook which helps us develop the skills necessary to be great Chumash detectives or what we will be calling” Chumash Balash”. This week we learned that a verb in Hebrew is called a “poal” and a noun is called a “shem etsem.” Next week we will begin our “search” and understanding of “techiliot” ( prefixes).

Instead of our usual Shabbat party , we will be watching a movie about Avraham as a young child. Please encourage your child to share the D’var Torah about this week’s parsha with you and sign and return it on Monday. Please take a look at your child’s Take Home Folder. Their quiz and other work will be in the Leave at Home packet. Please make sure these folders come back on Monday and every day.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Have a wonderful Shabbat!

Morah Robin and Morah Malca
