Morah Robin’s Fifth Grade Judaic
Newsletter/ Oct. 19th
The first full
week after all the holidays was such a busy one in Kita Heh. In Chumash we
continued learning about Yosef’s meeting with Paro. You can ask your fifth
grader the following: What did they do to Yosef when they came to the jail to
get him out and bring him to Paro? What does Yosef say to Paro: is it really
Yosef who knows how to interpret dreams? What is Yosef’s interpretation? What
is his advice to Paro? What does Paro say after he hears Yosef? What name does
he give to Yosef? Which wife? What things does he give Yosef to show his
importance? What does Rashi say: Why were the Egyptians starving once the seven
years of famine started? What happened to all the grain they had saved during
the years of plenty?
In order to
enhance our learning we did a creative assignment and wrote on “Paro’s
stationery” his decree that all would honor and respect Yosef. They will soon
be hanging on our hallway bulletin board and you can see them there. We also played a Human Matching Game, miming
games and regular matching games to help retain the new Chumash vocabulary. We were supposed to have our next Chumash test
scheduled for Oct. 24th, but I think it would help the students to
have a bit more time for review ,so I will postpone that test till the
following Monday, the 29th.
Speaking of
tests this week we had our first Navi test on perek aleph. The students are
also working on a Navi mini project: making a sign for one of the cities we
learned about in the perek.
The Succot
tests went home on Thursday. Please make sure you see it. If you sign and your
child corrects any mistakes, he/she can get 5 more points to their grade!
Mazal
tov and Yishar Koach to our new “melech” ( king) and “malca” ( queen) of “Seder
and Nikayon” ( order and cleanliness), the middah of Chodesh Tishrei. They are:
Nissin Andrusier and Chaya Batya Deitsch!! Kol Hakavod!!
Our new
middah that we will be focusing on in the month of Cheshvan is: “Zreezut” ( the
quickness with which one does a mitzvah, follows instructions, gets on task,
etc.)
On Friday we
will have another D’var Torah to share at the Shabbat table. Please encourage
your child. Signing , decorating and returning earns a sticker in our incentive
chart and brings one closer to popping a balloon!
I am happy to
see many serious “Kebabists” among our fifth graders. Please encourage your
child to read aloud to you from the psukim we are learning in Chumash, Navi and
even Mishna. It really helps their progress!
We
need magazines for an upcoming project. Please send in any old magazines. It is
a good way to recycle! Thanks!
Thank you
for all your cooperation!
Shabbat
Shalom!
Morah Robin
