5th grade Judaic newsletter/ nov. 16th

B”H

                                    MORAH ROBIN’S JUDAIC NEWSLETTER/ NOV. 16TH

It was wonderful meeting with you on Wed. and discussing your child’s progress. If you were unable to get an appt. with me and would like one, please email me and let me know so we can set up a time.

This week ( and last week) flew by in Kita Heh. We are learning and doing so much, it is hard to keep track. In Chumash we just had our first test for this new quarter and it looks like the children were very well prepared. We have already continued and learned our next group of psukim and I will be scheduling our next test for after Thanksgiving weekend. I will let the students know on Monday and post it on my blog. To help review for this week’s test, we acted out the story in the psukim using the Chumash language. I filmed their skits, but need to some editing before posting them.

In Navi we have also continued learning about the second Shofet ( judge) Ehud Ben Gera. Ask your child to tell you about him. What shevet was he from? What was special about him? Why is this important to the story? ( he was left handed…..). Who was the enemy? ( Eglon king of Moav) What was special about him? ( he was very “healthy” =big, fleshy man). How long did he oppress Bnei Yisrael? (18 years). Who helped him? ( Amon and Amalek).

In Dinim we will start  learning the laws of Chanuka next week and the students will receive their learning packet.

Speaking of Chanuka  we are very busy trying to squeeze in rehearsals of our play,” The Maccabim”. Please note on your calendars that it will be on Thurs, the 13th of Dec. at 10 am. Please encourage your student to learn his/her lines by heart.

Please also encourage him/her to share today’s parsha with you. There won’t be a newsletter next week due to the short week.

Mazal Tov to Basya and her family on her sister’s wedding!

Shabbat Shalom!

Morah Robin
