5th grade judaic newsletter / nov.2

B”H

Morah Robin’s Fifth Grade Judaic Newsletter/ Nov. 2

Did I just write November 2nd?? I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it is November already! Another week has flown by in Kita Heh. Two tests came home this week: one in Chumash the other in Navi. I hope you saw them both. Your child could earn more points by correcting and returning them signed. They needed to be returned the latest by Friday (today).  In Chumash we have begun perek 42 and are learning about Yosef’s brothers, who were sent down to Mizraim by their father Yaakov, to buy food. Yosef recognizes them , but pretends not to, and they do not recognize him at all. We have yet to delve into these psukim and answer many questions we have about this interesting event.

In Navi we learned that perek bet tells us of the interesting “cycle” that recurs in Sefer Shoftim. Please ask your child to tell you about this “cycle.” We also began perek gimel and learned about our first shofet ( judge). Ask your child who he is, who the enemy was, and how many years he oppressed Bnei Yisrael. They might have to look in the Navi for the answers, as we just talked about it once, so far.

We continued our Chumash Crazy Connection projects this week and our signs for Navi, but have yet to finish them. Some of our time went to auditioning and getting our parts for the Chanuka play. Please encourage your child to learn his/her part by heart as soon as possible, the earlier the better.

Today we will learn about the parsha and your child can’t wait to share their D’var Torah with you, so please encourage them. Instead of our usual Shabbat party, we will finish the movie about Young Avraham we began last week Friday.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation!

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Robin
