It was so good getting the chance to speak with you about your child’s
progress Wed. night. If you were unable to attend, please know you can
always contact me and we can set up a meeting.
This week ( and last week) were busy ones in Kita Bet! We have started
learning about the story of Chanuka and the children have a new packet
which tells the story in Hebrew. They are the proud illustrators of
this packet and after we learn each page , they draw the meaning. We
used this packet for Kebaba this week, so I hope at some time during
the week you heard your child read from pages 1-3 in this packet. We
also started our new packet on Parshat Noah, ( that was last week),
but did not have a chance to continue it this week. Once we have an
approaching holiday AND a play, we are left less time for Chumash. We
will catch up though, so no worries. I also filmed the different
groups in their “Why is the moon smaller than the sun” skits, which
connected to what we had learned in Parshat Bereisheet. I will figure
out how to send them to you, but please be patient, it will happen!
Some children were absent, or away, for their group’s performance and
have just returned, which means I need to retake some performances
anyway, but you will eventually get to see them. We worked a lot on
reviewing the “techiliot” ( prefixes) this week. We will be having a
quiz on them as soon as we see that most of the children are retaining
them. I think this will be the week after Thanksgiving. This will give
us time for a few more practice pages in our Lehavin U’Lehaskil
workbook.
Next week we will be starting a new Chanuka packet which focuses on
the laws of Chanuka. We will still be continuing in the story packet,
too.
I would like to thank the Ilin family for buying a book for the second
grade from my wish list at the book fair! The second graders will sure
enjoy listening to the story “Mrs. Greenberg’s Messy Hanukkah” when I
read it to them some time before Hanukkah. We appreciate your
generosity and thoughtfulness, thank you!
Please make sure your child reviews his/her part in the Chanuka skit.
Please encourage your child to share this week’s parsha with you and
returned signed , so I know he/she did.
There won’t be a newsletter next week due to the short week. Please
remember that Wed. is a 2pm dismissal.
I will wish you a Happy Thanksgiving now, then and , of course, a
Shabbat Shalom!
