B”H
MORAH ROBIN’S JUDAIC NEWSLETTER/ NOV.
29TH
We had
another busy week in Kita Bet. I was out sick on Monday, but we still got a lot
done in our Judaic class. In Chumash we continued our Noach packet and learned
the words,” Lehashcheet” ( to destroy) and “chamas”
( bad deeds) while reading the new psukim on p. 3 of our packet. We
learned that because of so many bad deeds ( it says the world was ‘full of
them” vatimalei ha’aretz chamas),
people were actually destroying the world, so Hashem decided to destroy
it with a flood ( mabul). However, Hashem saw that there was one man,
Noach, who was a real tzaddik “ ish tzaddik tamim
hayah” and Hashem would save Noach and his family. That is where we
are right now in the story. We also looked for related words in the word
families of : “lehashcheet” ( shin, chet, tav) in these psukim
and highlighted them. Now we know when reading these psukim ( on p.3) that
these words with those letters are related to the meaning of “to destroy.” This
helps us become a good “Chumash balash” ( Chumash detective). We also
highlighted the word: “chamas” to
remind us that it means: bad deeds. Next week we will learn about a special
mitzvah also related to this word family called: “ Bal Tashcheet” which
means not to destroy, but I will leave that for the next newsletter.
In Chanuka
we continued our Chanuka story packet and our children are proving to be
excellent illustrators. The completed story and dinim (law) packets will be
sent home during Chanuka .
We are very busy
practicing for our Chanuka play and that is why this week we did not do much on
the Techiliot ( prefix) topic, but will resume it next week. The hw in the
workbook can be done over the weekend and returned on Monday, please. It is p.
51 and reviews the different prefixes. P. 34 can be used as reference. Please
make sure, however, that it does come back to school on Monday, since we will
be doing more review and then I will schedule a short test on these prefixes,
probably next Wed. I will write it in next week’s weekly assignment sheet
. Back to our play, please make sure
your child knows his/her lines by heart by Monday. No scripts will be allowed
in rehearsals anymore. We need to start practicing with our props. So far the
children are doing an excellent job and you are in for a treat on the 12 of
Dec. B”H !
We are still
short about 11 shoeboxes, so if you have not yet sent in one, please do so. The
best size is regular adult, if you have it.
Today your
child will bring home another D’var Torah to share with you. Please encourage
them to do so and return signed so I know they did.
Thank you
for your ongoing cooperation!
Shabbat
Shalom,
Morah Robin
and Morah Malca
