GRADE TWO NEWSLETTER/ Sept. 7th
Shalom Dear Second Grade Parents!
We had another very busy week in second grade Judaics. In Chumash we are still learning about the creation of the world in Parashat Bereisheet and now know what Hashem created on the first three days. You can ask your second grader to tell you. We are also trying to remember what the special words of the Torah mean. The following words are part of our ongoing Chumash vocabulary: וַיִקְרָא ה' וַיֹאמֶר ה' "יְהִי אוֹר" שָמַיִם אוֹר חֹשֶךְ בּוֹקֶר עֶרֶב יוֹם לַיְלָה Next week we will start our “Chumshilonim” ( Chumash pictionaries) where we will write all our favorite Chumash words and draw their meanings. We are quite good at recognizing if a word is “zachar” ( masculine) or “nekeiva” ( feminine) and feel ready for a short quiz ( shmiz) this coming Monday, B”H. In Dinim we are learning about Chodesh Elul and Rosh Hashana. We are busy working on our special Elul and Rosh Hashana packet.
On Thursday we had a special guest from Israel. The Israeli shlicha, Liat Shaked, will spend some time every other Thursday with our students and tell us about our sister city, Kfar Saba, in Israel, as part of the Shutafut Alpayim program.

On Friday we learned about this week's parsha and had a
Shabbat party led by Rabbi Elbaz. Please encourage your child to share the
D'var Torah at your Shabbat table and return the page signed. If decorated it
will hang in our Yofi Shel Parasha corner. It is already beautiful with last
week's parsha pages! Thank you parents for encouraging your children and
returning the parsha pages!
Please always let me know of any concerns or questions.
Shabbat Shalom!
